COMMUNITY LUNCHES

Following the successful Christmas Day Lunch & Party we offer occasional lunches to any in Tavistock who would otherwise be eating on their own. These will be on a Sunday in the Spring, Summer & Autumn and will be followed by a short entertainment. We also plan to make the Christmas Day lunch and entertainment an annual event.

OPERATION SUNSHINE
We support the work of Operation Sunshine which sends clothes, goods and educational materials out to Africa.

The OPERATION SUNSHINE box is in Church ready for your gifts to be sent out to Africa. Thank you to those who have already donated......a suggested list of items needed is on the box!!

Your prayers are requested that our fellowship will be alert to new opportunities to reach out in Christian friendship to the people of Tavistock and that we will grow in strength to help those God sends to us.

“WHERE THERE IS NO VISION (WE) PERISH.......” Proverbs 29 v18

Vision gives meaning to otherwise meaningless details. Much of what we do as a church - coffee mornings, fund raising, cleaning, painting, meetings - does not seem to make much difference on their own. But when these things are dropped into the cauldron of a God-ordained vision, stir them around...and suddenly there is purpose!
It is the difference between filling bags with dirt or building a dyke to save the town. There is nothing glamorous about filling bags with dirt - but saving the town is something else! Building a dyke gives meaning to the drudgery of filling bags with dirt. And so it is with vision. Too many times the routines of church life begin to feel like shovelling dirt. But take those same routines and view them through the lens of a God-given purpose and suddenly everything looks different. Vision brings the world into focus.
It weaves 4 essential things into our church Life :
PASSION......MOTIVATION.....DIRECTION.......PURPOSE
Members of Tavistock URC have proved that a small church can do great things.
The refurbishment of the premises, the generosity of people giving their time and talents - as well as their financial generosity - is all to be commended.
It has been hard work......dusty.......dirty.......time-consuming...........back aching....... but we had a vision and this provided the passion, motivation, direction and purpose to see the project through......to the glory of God!
It is at times like this that the church people say “Right....that’s that!” and before they know it, the light of the vision has gone out and their beautiful refurbished church and hall is empty.
THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN HERE!
Indeed we have a vision to grow the congregation to a membership of 200. Can you help us do so?
We have an aim ...
to KNOW, SHOW and GROW in the love of Jesus Christ .

We are doing this in practical ways.
